Backup files reinstalled as Read-Only

I recently rebuilt my machine and copied on two CD-R my
entire MyDocuments folder (2.10 GB). When I restored the
files, all of the files came over at READ-ONLY.. Ahhhh!!!

3 weeks ago I migrated from my old machine, Win 98SE
Office 2000.

Is there anyway in XP to convert all my files from READ-
ONLY without having to go to each property and unchecking
read-only???????????

A solution to this would be most helpful.

Select all the files at once and go to the Properties. From there, you can
uncheck Read-Only once, and all the files will be modified.
