Backup: Where are my BCM data files stored?

Hi everyone..

I'm a bit fussy with backups and like to do them manually rather than let outlook 2007 do it.

So, I periodically copy the contents of '\local\microsoft\outlook' and 'local\roaming\microsoft\outlook' to a memory stick.

I just installed Business Contact Manager and want to make sure I know where the data is stored so that I can copy it to my memory stick as well.

Is the data all in local\microsoft\Business Contact Manager? Or somewhere else? Or are there multiple folders for me to copy?

Which folders do I copy to backup BCM?

I'm Using Outlook 2007 on WIndows Vista.

You shouldn't directly copy the original files as it is an SQL database. The
backup will also take care that transaction logs are committed and truncated
accordingly. When you only have a direct dump of the directory, you can only
restore by doing a disaster recovery. Using the built-in backup and restore
feature in BCM is the only supported backup/restore method.

Understood. Thank you for the response.

I will backup BCC with it's backup tool.

In regards to Outlook though:-

Just to confirm, it -is- good to backup outlook by copying the outlook folders though right? (Unlike BCC as per your response).

Or is it best to backup outlook from the outlook backup utility as well?

I always figured it's best to backup by copying the folders. (for outlook only not BCC)
