Backward comp...

Hi All,

Does anyone know how backward compatibility between various office versions
work? We are currently rolling out version 2003 and have 98, and 2000 on
various computers on site. At any given time there will be 3 versions of
office insalled, how much of a problem would this present as regards saving
from 1 version to the other.

Any information on this would be very greatly received. Is there any
literature on the Microsoft web site that hands out any guidance?

Regards.

How "involved" are your docs?
I worked in an office that had different versions of Office 97-2003 and they
were sharing docs with no problems.
Now keep in mind they were doing basic reports, (Table of contents,
sections, basic tables, etc) but there were no major issues.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the reply.

The documents range from very small "Bog Standard" word documents with text
to very complex and large word documents with embeded files and OLE objects
etc, etc. This also applies to other apps such as excel, powerpoint etc.

Hope this helps.

What we did was years ago and the only real issue we had was in Access,
where the defaults in some macro instructions had changed, and so had to
be corrected/specified to work under 2003.
