Bad addresses in Distribution list

T

Tripp

In Outlook 2000: When I send an email to a distribution list, it doesn't send
and I get this message back from the server: The message could not be sent
because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. Server Response:
'550 unrouteable address' (Account: 'pop.fatcow.com', SMTP Server:
'smtp.fatcow.com', Error Number 0x800ccc79).

Is there a way to have this list send without having to verify each address?
I've already queried the folks at the email server and they say they can't
help.

No. You'll need to examine the members to find the invalid address.

Is this different in more recent verisions of Outlook? This gets tedious
because the list is long and addresses change often.
Does another methodology occur to you that would be more efficient in
handling a large group of names/addresses when you want to be able to email a
message to all of them?
Any other recommendations would be helpful...I'm up for suggestions.
Thanks,
Tripp

Nothing has changed in more recent versions. DL's have never been a reliable
or robust method for grouping recipients. I know of no Outlook veterans who
rely upon them. Preferred methods for grouping contacts are Categories and
separate Contact subfolders. Compare those options here:
