Bad CD Frontpage 2000

P

Phil

Hi,
I just purchased a new laptop and went to install my Office 2000.
Everything went fine until I got to the last cd and tried to install my
Frontpage 2000. It was about 1/3 done when the drive started retrying over
and and over. It appears my cd is bad. Dose anyone know how I can get
another cd for Frontpage 2000.

Thanks,

You can try to see if you can find one on ebay, but, be very careful about
getting a true, legit copy.

Hi again,
This is long shot but I thought I would give it a try. I still have my old
computer with my frontpage on it. Is there any way I can transfer (file
copy???) my frontpage from the old computer to my new one?
Thanks again.

I've used toothpaste on bad scratches.

And believe it or not...put a bad CD in the refrig for hour or so...then
try...but make a copy first.

| Thanks Steve
| Copying to the hard drive did not work, but the car wax DID.

| Thanks,

I meant make a copy first after you remove it from the frig., apparently the
global cooling effect doesn't last long.

| Kind of hard to make a copy first, if the cd is bad ;-)

?

.._..

You sure you aren't thinking of hard drives in the freezer? (Which does
sometimes work to get the data off a dead drive.)

I can imagine any mechanism that would make that help and it would probably
cause condensation on the CD making it worse.

Car wax is a really good tip though, I use that trick once a year or so.

Just don't do as my tech support manager says- "press down
hard with kleenex and go around in a circular motion"

I have heard of good results with both toothpaste and auto
polishes- basically the same action going on between the
two.

I use either Novus Plastic Polish or Meguiar's PlastX for
CDs and DVDs, only because it is designed for softer
materials. It also works good to remove the yellow hazing of
the aero plastic headlamps.

Either way, that is basically what the Skip Dr disc cleaning
system does
