Bad installation?

Whenever I run an Office program, a Windows Installer windows pops up, and it
takes about a whole minute for my program to start up. Is this a sign of a
bad installation? I've tried doing a repair install from the Office CD, but
it's still giving me the same problem. Although this doesn't necessarily
pose any immediate threat to my computer usage, it still gets quite annoying
that every time I try to run Word it takes me a whole minute just to get it
running...

Btw, my computer is a personally custom-built PIV 2.40GHz, 512MB RAM
(PC3200) computer, and I have Windows XP SP2 installed. The Office version
I'm having trouble with is Microsoft Office 2003 Professional (No Frontpage)

What is the product name displayed while it is showing "Please wait while
Windows configures <productname>"?

Is it Office Professional?

Thanks,

It used to say "Please wait while Windows configures Office Professional,"
but now it just pops up a windows that says "Preparing to install..." for a
few seconds, then that windows disappears, and nothing happens for nearly a
minute, and then finally Word or whatever program I launched will run.
