bad save as window

I have a problem with a office 2000 computer. After starting a Office
application like Word, if I make any changes and then try to close Word I
get the normal " Do you want to save the changes" window. If I select yes
then a Save As window comes up, but it is not like any Save As window that I
have ever seen. The blue bar will stretch across the screen, but there is
nothing in the window under it. The window is there but is is blank. No
Save In, no File Name, no Save as type, no buttons. If I type what I want
the file to be named and press enter then all of the windows will close and
I can find the file in the default folder. The end user is having great
problems trying to understand how to use this untill I get it resolved.
Does anyone have any idea how this happened? This is in a room that is also
used by small children so any thing may be happening. Any idea how to
correct this. I tried to use the office cd to repair but no luck.

Thanks for any information.
