Bad update - can no longer add records to an attached excel file

Hi,

Recently I ran an MS Office update from their website and now I can no
longer add new records or append records to my attached excel files. I
have tried the same db on other comps and it works fine. Its just this
one comp where the problem exists. Short of reinstalling MS Office
2003, anyone else have this problem/solutions?? It always worked fine
- I have queries which append records to my attached excel files, but
now I can no longer run these queries. I have tried using different
databases and the problem always exists on this comp. I have run all
the updates for XP and Office. Any ideas?

I am using MS Office 2003 on WinXP SP2.

Unfortunately, that functionality appears to have been removed
intentionally by Microsoft:

The KB article says it was "for legal reasons." Many people are unhappy
about it.

The best workaround I can suggest at the moment is to automate Excel
when you need to update worksheets.

:-o

Legal reasons?? Both products are part of the same suite, for crying
out loud!!
Bummer!

Thanks, I searched the kb but didn't see that article.
note to self...don't install the update!
