I am baffled.
I had created an Excel spreadsheet with inventory items with cells
containing links to actual pictures of the item, like this:
Paintngs_Antq/Invntry070226_31.jpg <Paintngs_Antq/Invntry070226_31.jpg>
After doing other things in that same spreadsheet (coloring certain cells,
for example) saving the spreadsheet and reopen it a few days later, that
link was broken!
When I cleared the cell in question and rebuilding the link in Excel with
command-K to the particular picture at the same location, in other words
exactly the same link syntax, the link works again.
I seem to miss something very fundamental in linking objects from within an
office document to an external file. I am wondering where is the breakdown
of my Œmental link¹?
Can anybody help? (I am working with an MacMini Intel core duo, MacOSX
10.4.9 and lots of memory/memories). Most important: How can I prevent
this to happen in the future?
