Banner Ad Manager

M

Maxwell

I am trying to create a banner ad with different pictures every 4 seconds. I
set this up by going to Insert>Banner Ad Manager. I add the pictures I
want included and for the 'Link to' button, I put in the page name. The
first picture shows in design view. When I go to Internet Explorer to
preview the banner ad, the picture box is grayed out and does nothing. What
am I doing wrong.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Many users of Windows XP and/or IE 6 no longer have the ability to run Java Applets out of the box,
unless they go to Sun's Java web site and download the Sun Java Virtual Machine.

The Banner Ad manager is a Java applet. This requires a java Virtual
Machine to run. New installations of WindowsXP and IE6 do not have a JVM,
so Java applets will not work.
A JVM can be downloaded from www.java.com, but bear in mind all your viewers
will have to install a JVM as well.
Best to find a JavaScript solution.

I have seen this 'picture thing' (banner ad)on a lot of websites and like
it. Are they using another method to do the pictures.

The JVM does worry me if my viewers cannot view it. How do I go about
finding a JavaScript?

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, i just downloaded jvm from java.com.

Should I go to Google.com and download this rotator. Would this be easier
for viewers to see? (or is this the same thing that i downloaded from
java.com)

Java and JavaScript are totally different technologies and only share in the name, Java.

What is your preference. Should I download the rotator from google.com? I
just want to use what is the best and most available to the viewers.
I really appreciate your input.

If you want everyone to be able to see, then you will have to use JavaScript.
