I print Cards with nubers and a Barcode to represnet the number. The bar code
is a font named 39251. I use Word to merge the numbers from access.
Is access capable of using the bar code font? If it is, how do I instal it
and use Acces directly to print Bar does instead of uisng mail merge?

What do you mean by "capabable of using the bar code font"? If the font is
insatalled on the machine, then Access can use it to print reports. To do
this, you would build your report, then, while in design view, select the
control you want to use to display your barcode, then click Edit - Font and
select the barcode font desired. Remember to include any preceding or
trailing characters needed by your barcode readers (the ones I'm familiar
with require the barcode to surrounded by asteriks, IIRC).

If you mean can Access "read" with a barcode reader, then generally Yes, but
how you do it depends on how the reader interfaces with the machine. If it's
a keyboard wedge type scanner, then Access can easily do so (since a
keyboard wedge scanner is interpreted simply as keyboard input) and you
don't really have to do anything. If it's a comm or serial port scanner,
then it's a bit more involved since you'll have to read the data coming from
that port and interpret it.

Thank you, Scott.
When I choose the font from the text box, the Bar code font does not show. I
am using Access 97
(This is related to printing and not 'scanning' for the bar code.)
With Word, on the same computer, the font is 'available'. But with Access ,
the font is not 'available' meaning , i cannot see the Barcode font in the
font list.
Can some one help. I do not want to use mail merge if I can do it thru Access.
THANK YOU !

When our company upgraded us from NT to XP I lost this barcode. Our IT guy
said if I could find it, he'd get it installed on my machine again. Any
clue where I can track it down?

Thanx,

Christine
