Baseline Cost shows all Zeros (Resource)

Hi,

I'm new to MSP (using 2007 standard) so this may seem a stupid questio
but anyhow.....

I have a project set up using resources from a resource pool with cos
rates for each resource. I have set a baseline (and other subsequen
baselines) and the project has progressed (i.e. tasks have been started
money has been spent etc). In the Task Sheet view I can see th
baseline cost for each task. However, in the Resource Sheet view, th
baseline cost for each resource is zero. This results in the whole cos
for each resource showing as variance, which is clearly not the case!
have checked that I am using the correct Cost Rate table for eac
resource and I believe I am.

Can anybody tell me why these baseline values are zero? I am not sur
if this can be corrected or if I have done something wrong earlier
before setting the initial baseline and it is now too late?

By the way, I have added a column for 'baseline 3' in the Resourc
Sheet view and this displays values as expected. I had set up cost
before setting the initial baseline so cannot understand what is goin
on.

Any help will be appreciated

Hello Lukey,

I am unable to reproduce what you note. (I am using Project 2007 Pro
SP-1 with no project server involved.) When I save a baseline in
either of the sharer files, the baseline cost for the resource is
populated and includes the baseline cost for that resource's
assignments on all project files. However, I did notice that if I
cleared the baseline on *any* sharer file, the baseline cost for the
resource went to zero.

Is it possible that a baseline on one of the sharer files was cleared?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Julie,

Thanks for taking the time. I did have another sharer plan which used
the resource pool. I made it for 'experimenting' and subsequently
deleted it altogether (but don't think I cleared the baseline at any
point). However, I have been fiddling some more and discovered that the
new column - baseline 3 cost, which I added, also now shows zeros for
every resource! So, I just set a new baseline - baseline 4. I then
added this as a column in the Resource Sheet and hey presto - values
were correctly displayed. Next, I saved the project, chose to update
the resource pool information when prompted and, once the save was
completed, the values in the column 'baseline 4 costs' all went to
zero!

I will stick with this because I am determined to discover the cause
(what I've done wrong). If you have any ideas in the meantime I'll
always be pleased to hear them!
