Baseline for Published Project

I am trying to publish an existing stand-alone project to
server 2003.
I would like to maintain the existing baseline work and
baseline cost even after publishing. Is there a way to do
it?

Apparently, after publishing it is not keeping the
baseline info. In the resources earned value view of the
project, (PWA - Projects tab - Resource Earned View),
baseline cost and work are zero. This gets populated only
after going back to the professional and saving a
baseline. However, this saves a baseline at the time of
publishing and we want to maintain the earlier baseline.

Is there a way to do it.
