Baseline Hours not equal to BCWS using project end date

George Meriwether

I am trying to get an idea of how much work/revenue has been scheduled
across a large project. When I set my project status date to the end
of the project (no tasks are scheduled past this date) and summarize
the individual tasks using an excel spreadsheet, several individual
tasks are different when comparing BCWS to the Baseline Work. The
figure for the baseline work is the one the project started with and I
believe is correct.

Can anyone provide an expanation?

Thanks in advance.

Have any of those tasks been changed in any way, durations changed or
resources substituted for example, or moved in the schedule since the
baseline was saved?

Yes - changes have been made. (However, when I compare the monthly
Baseline work in the task usage view to the monthly BCWS, several of
the tasks that are different are ones that I do not beleive have
changed).

Thanks,

George

I admit to being a little perplexed. One of the first things I'd look for
is some disparity with the status dates versus the end-of-month dates and
their respective totals. I may have a Baseline work of 200 man-hours for
the month but if my status date is not at or beyond the end of the month the
BCWS will be less. BCWS is that portion of the baseline work that would
have been scheduled to occur on or before the status date at the time the
baseline was saved.
