I have encountered a very odd situation and I was
wondering if anyone else had experienced this. I have
seen it both in Project 2002 and Project 2003.
I work in an environment where the Standard Calendar is
7.25 hours a day. I have noticed something very odd
occuring in the breakdown of baseline work after an
assignment has been published.
Here is a rundown of the scenario.
In a brand new project plan, I create a task, lets say 5
days. I then add an Enterprise Resource to the plan and
make sure their calendar matches the Standard calendar. I
then assign the resource to the task.
I then Save the Baseline.
If I switch to the Task Usage view and look at the
breakdown of the Work, it shows 7.25 hours a day for five
days. If I display the Baseline Work it shows the same
numbers. I then Zoom into 15 minute intervals and it
displays 0.25 in both Work and Baseline Work.
I Publish All Information and ensure that when the plan is
saved, it uses the Standard calendar.
I notice now, however that in the Task Usage view, when
Zoomed into the 15 minute intervals, the Work shows 0.25
still but the Baseline Work displays 0.23 and uses Non-
Work time at the end to catch up with the Work value. In
essence, in Baseline Work, the workday ends after the 7.25
hours in order to ensure that the same amount of Work is
recorded.
My concern is not about how it appears when Zoomed into 15
minute intervals but what the impact might be on other
areas, especially its impact on a plan that will be
Imported onto the server, one that has already started.
Has anyone experienced this and if so are there any ideas
as to a resolution or a potential fix.
Thanks,
Melissa
