Baseline Work

Hi,

I am just curious to know how does Microsoft Project treat multiple
baselines. Say I saved first baseline in June, second in July and third
in August. In the EV reports will it take the data from the latest
baseline? Also how do I ensure that I am working on latest baseline.

The project Statistics tab shows only the original baselined dates and
not the latest one

Any help is appreciated.

Under Tools, Options, Calculation tab there is an earned value button .
Click it and you can choose which baseline Project uses for calculating ev.

There is only one baseline in any project - it is a record of the plan as
you originally intended to perform it and all progress should be measured
against that original plan. "Working on the lastest baseline" when you are
saving baselines as work progress would mean you'd lose all your variance
information, not a good idea. As I just wrote in another message, IMHO the
only time you should rebaseline and replace the original baseline with a new
one is when something happens to change the project scope and tasks are
added or deleted from the project so as to make it essentially a different
project altogether.
