If you use any of the alternate Baseline fields, such as Baseline 1 through
Baseline10, there is no default method to compare the current state of the
project with the current Baseline set of fields. There are several things
you can do, however, if you are willing to spend the time. The first thing
you can do is to modify the Tracking Gantt view to show your current
Baseline schedule by completing these steps:
1. Make a copy of the Tracking Gantt view and rename the new View
2. In the new Tracking Gantt copy, double-click anywhere in the white part
of the Gantt Chart
3. In the Bar Styles dialog, change the Baseline Start and Baseline Finish
fields to the current Baseline you are using, such as Baseline2 Start
Beyond this, you could also create a new set of variance Tables to show your
variance between the current schedule and the current Baseline. To do this,
you would need to make a copy of the Work, Cost, and Variance tables, then
replace the existing Variance columns with columns containing formulas to
calculate the variance. For example, in your copy of the Cost table, you
would need to create a custom Cost column with the formula [Cost] -
[Baseline2 Cost] for example.
As you can see, this would be a bit of work, but it might be very rewarding
in the end. Hope this helps.
