basic question on Windows media player

I've looked thru all the questions but didn't find an answer to my questions.
If I've competed all the wmp wizard steps, at what point do I see the actual
video?
so far, all I see is a nice little player with a blank/blank screen-both in
design view & thru the "preview in browser" (IE). The video is very large &
an avi file.
Other than downloading the wmp addon for frontpage, is there anything else I
need?
Thank you for your help!

The file probably needs to downloaded first (being that you said it is a
large file, then there would be a short/long delay depending on the user's
internet connection (dialup/broadband), then it will play (i.e. not
streaming - playing while d/loading).

So, would I see the video in my "design view"... if I allow it time to
download? Large file will take a long time but it will eventually show up in
design view? Originally I wanted to use the embedded player on the page for
this large file but decided to try a link on the webpage that will open in
people's own player. Is this a better option? Thought too I'd need to have an
faq, what are the expected issues I should address? Thanks very much
