Basic shortcuts?

Apologies if this sounds stupid
My new workplace exclusively uses Macs which are designed to be very
keyboard unfriendly..
Does MacXL have shortcuts for editing a cell (F2 in windows - copies the
cell in Mac) and selecting a column (Ctrl+Space in Windows - opens spotlight
in Mac)?

Is making my own shortcuts the only way out?

Interesting way to start out a request for help from Mac enthusiasts...

I think you need to open up XL Help ("Keyboard Shortcuts"):

CONTROL+U Edit the active cell
CONTROL+SPACEBAR Select the entire column

I *think* that the default Spotlight shortcut is CMD-spacebar, not
CTRL-spacebar, but you can certainly change that in System
Preferences/Spotlight.
Is making my own shortcuts the only way out?

I find making my own shortcuts much more convenient than memorizing MS's
menu structure (especially since I completely redesign menus and
toolbars in my startup add-in). And I'm *still* upset that MS didn't use
the original MacXL shortcuts when they ported XL to Windows. But to each
his/her own.

BTW - here's an additional technique to make F2 edit a cell:
