Hello,

Is there an easy way to batch convert ALL .DOCs on my hard drive to .DOCX ? Now that it is officially an ISO standard, I want to easily upgrade all of my files without having to choose them individually.
Any ideas?

You can use AppleScript for this, or string together Automator Actions into
a workflow.

There is a "Convert Format of Word Documents" Automator action already
installed as part of Office 2008.

Look up "Automator" in the OS X Help for more information.

Cheers

Dear John,

Thank you so much for your response. I figured I could use automator in some fashion, but it is the one program on the mac that remains a mystery to me. And, I have no idea how to script applescript.

If anyone out there creates an automator workflow, (especially for us code-adverse who couldn't script or automate themselves out of a paper bag), please post it!
Cheers,
M.

{Chortle} Me too. Can't write a line of either of them.

But you do not need anyone to "create' the workflow for you. Just start
Automator and read the instructions :)

Drag a Finder action that returns a FOLDER into the Automator, then drag the
Word action that converts to "Word Document" below it.

Boom boom! You're done...

Cheers
