BCM 2007 Install Successful, Doesn't show up in Outlook 2007

I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 and Office 2007 Ultimate, and have been
trying all day to get BCM working. Last night, I installed SP1 for
Office, and SP1 RC1 for Windows. I proceeded to install BCM this
morning, followed immediately by installing SP1 for BCM (I have a
database running on another box). The SQL install was successful, and
near as I could tell, so was the BCM install. However, when I start
Outlook, I don't get the first start screen for BCM, and when I check
the COM add-ins, it's not listed. I even manually tried a few DLLs to
see if something was just being screwy and I could circumvent the
problem by performing the final steps by hand. Obviously none of this
has worked.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling BCM a half dozen times. In
that process, I've gone through the install logs in my temp folder,
and they all returned an errorcode 0, I've gone through my application
log, and I see numerous entries for MSSQL$MSSMLBIZ showing that the
database is working. However, when I checked HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft
\Business Solutions eCRM key, I found that it wasn't even there.

Also, during the install, the following warning was logged :
Source: MsiInstaller Event ID: 1039
Product: Microsoft Office 2007 Primary Interop Assemblies. The
application tried to modify a protected Windows registry key \Software
\Classes\CLSID\{25336920-03F9-11CF-8FD0-00AA00686F13}\InprocServer32.

This went on for the following keys:
\Software\Classes\CLSID\{3050F667-98B5-11CF-BB82-00AA00BDCE0B}
\InprocServer32.
\Software\Classes\CLSID\
{AE24FDAE-03C6-11D1-8B76-0080C744F389}\InprocServer32.
\Software\Classes\TypeLib\{00020430-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\2.0.
\Software\Classes\CLSID
\{0BE35204-8F91-11CE-9DE3-00AA004BB851}\InprocServer32.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Can you try these two things:

1. Open Outlook as an Administrator
2. Create a new profile and open Outlook

Let me know if any of the above works.

Hello Bill,

I realize your post is a couple months old but I have the same problem. Did
you ever come to a resolution?

Thanks for your time,

Disabled BCM?
In the Windows Registry check:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins
\Microsoft.BusinessSolutions.eCRM.OutlookAddin.Connect.1
The value of LoadBehavior should be 3 for Outlook to load it.

Hi Luther,

Thanks for your suggestion but it was set to three. The key was different
in that the folder was called
"Microsoft.BusinessSolutions.eCRM.OutlookAddin.Connect.3". I tried changing
the folder name to end in a 1 but still no luck.

So Luther, why would his key be different? Does BCM number the keys after
uninstall/reinstall or Disable Addin/ Re-Enable AddIn? I wonder if this
explains why sometimes our pinpoint Marketing tool gets disabled -- maybe
the keys are different.

Thanks,
Lon

I dunno.

I suspect it's something in the way Outlook handles it's add-ins. It's
in the Outlook Registry hive and other Outlook add-ins also get
trailing integers.

I have been running Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager (BCM) for
months with no problems. Suddenly, is no longer on my navigation pane or my
toolbar. It is listed in my Program Files but no longer shows up in
Outlook???? None of the self-help tips have been helped, including:

1. Uninstalling BCM and re-installing (multiple times)
2. Uninstalling Outlook and BCM and re-installing
3. I also tried adding BCM for Outlook via COM-Add-Inns (the BCM option was
"greyed" out so I could not check it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi,

I recently had the same problem: used BCM for many months and then it
suddenly it was gone. Didn't install any other programs nor did I change
settings.
"Solution": I did a system restore and that fixed the problem.
Don't know what caused it.

grtz.
