BCM 2007 over VPN

Hi, I am trying to connect to my BCM database from my computer at home.

I connect to the server using VPN.

I can see the BCM database when connecting to a shared database, but when
connecting to it, it can't find a user account for me. I guess this user
account is my "Workgroup" account on my home PC rather than the
domain\username and password I use to access the VPN Server.

I am an administrator on all computers.

I tried to see about adding a new user on the BCM server but I need a domain
to enter, so can't just type "Workgroup".

Any ideas?

Just enter teh Name of the computer the BCM Database is running on.
Than add local users to this computer having the same name as the user on
the remote computer
Then share BCM database

Nope, didn't work.

I am sharing my database on a sbs2003 server. So am a bit confused how you
mean to add a "local user" as they have to be a member of the domain don't
they?

Added a user with the same name as the remote user, but when sharing with
that user I get an error message saying "the current user does not have
permission to grant other users permission to connect to the sql server.
please give the current user grantlogin privelege on te sql server."

strange as I am logged on as administrator.

Any more ideas?

Questions:
VPN clients are Domain integrated or not?
Database on SBS is SQL EXpress or full-size SQL Server?
Do you have SQL management studio installed?
How do you share to a user - via BCM or sql-means?

On my remote PC I am simply running a standard log on to my local computer,
then creating a VPN within this to my SBS2003 server, purely for access to
files and folders. Logging on as an administrator. (i.e. I am not logging
on through the logon screen and connecting to the domain through VPN at
startup)

Running SQL Express

Don't know about sql management studio i'm afraid.

To share users, I am simply using the BCM for outlook 2007 database tool.
The original database was created on a domain client and then backed up and
restored to the server with this tool.

It works fine for domain users, just not the vpn client.

I've ben doing this successfully:
If you used the BCM database tool to share the db with Domain user X, then
log onto the remote VPN PC as domain user X and you should be able to connec
to the BCM db from outlook 2007 as domain user X.

Thanks for all your help, managed to get things working by just adding a new
user within my office domain that had the same log on as my workgroup name,
strange though how it recognises this as being on the domain.

I managed to get my XP Pro over VPN set up just fine, but using the same way
of connecting with a Vista Home Premium client, I can't connect to the
sqlexpress server... "Cannot access the database server on computer
OFFICESERVER." error is occurring when I "Create or select a BCM database".

Any ideas now?
