BCM 2007 Very Slow

I have searched through the list and found some various suggestions, but we
still seem to be having the same problems. I have multiple clients running
BCM 2007 through a VPN. Their Outlook takes forever to load. My question is
we use the the online/offline function so people can take their laptops on
the road. Do they need to have a copy of SQL Server on their laptops if they
work off-line? One post suggested removing SQL Server from the individual
hard drive if you were working on a server based product. Also, any other
tips to speed this up would be great.

Yes, you must have sql server on the machine to work offline.

If you are running through a VPN, network latency may be the culprit.
How does BCM on a PC on VPN compare to it on a local PC? If their
speeds are similar, then you should look at your server and see if
sqlserver.exe is using all available CPU. If that's the case, your
solution is more cpu and ram on the server. More ram allows sql to
cache more items and makes it respond faster.

If you have a lot of old data in BCM, you should consider backing up
the database, and then hard deleting the stale contacts and accounts.
