BCM Auto-Linking

We have an extremely large database and amount of e-mails on our network.
Before our BCM was residing on the server, we were linking all emails to the
contacts, but one day for some reason it got currupted and we were forced to
upgrade to 2007 Office and have it residing in the server, which is good, but
our IT guy said we shouldn't auto-link the emails to avoid that to happen
again.

We really need this feature for our business. Is there a limit amount of
emails or information BCM can handle?

"They" (at Microsoft) say there is theoretically no limit to the amount of
data, assuming you're using SQL Standard instead of SQL Express. Express
has a 4GB limit on data and 1GB on memory - Standard doesn't have that
limit. That said, history in BCM can be a hog on performance and fewer
records is better. Finally, think about using Outlook to search emails
instead of linking them.

Lon

Searching emails on outlook takes way too long, we use Exchange and I have to
search for email on my boss' inbox all the time. I believe we have SQL 2005,
would that be considered SQL standard?

We're also now looking into Search Server 2008 Express that Microsoft just
anounced not too long ago. We use Small Business Server 2003, if that
qualifies, searching emails will be quick enough to avoid auto-linking emails.
