BCM "could not complete your last action" Log data

J

Jim

I posted on 3/1 and was told to enable logging. I didn't understand and
enabled Outlook logging. This time I enabled BCM logging. Below is my
original post and at the bottom is the section of the log that may relate
this problem. I can't see anything wrong but hopefully someone can.

I've uninstalled BCM and reinstalled and no improvement.

For some reason Help / About BCM disappears when this problem occurs. That
is probably why I only enabled Outlook logging the first time; I couldn't
see About BCM.

The interesting part is that I do nothing with BCM to create this problem.
All I have to do is go from Mail to Contacts and back again and the problem
occurs with every folder selection. Driving me NUTS!

3/1/08 Post:

I'm having an annoying but intermittant error message popup in Outlook 2007
with
the following message:

"Business Contact Manager for Outlook could not complete your last action or
actions. Please try again."

I've searched the Web and this group but the few solutions available don't
work.

If I reboot Outlook then the problem goes away for a while. Clicking on a
folder in Contacts starts the problem and after that clicking on any folder
in Outlook launches the popup. This install is months old and the problem
is new.

I have installed a few other programs but nothing odd. All normal business
programs and utilities. I recently updated Office Accounting but there was
no immediate problem after that.

I can access my contacts in BCM and everything I've tried works well. The
database is at least working.

Outlook 2007 with latest updates
Office Accounting 2008 installed but not connected to BCM.
XP SP3 with latest updates

Help is deeply appreciated!

Same issue here. Error occurs when I restart Outlook 2007. Most recent fix
attempt was to drop Accounting Integration as it is pretty worthless for my
needs anyway.

Still the same results.

I do have live maps integration.. this I need.

Also have looked all over the web for some resolution.

Some help from anybody please?

Looks like a bug in the code. Removing toolbars may prevent that code
from being called.

OK, it looks like a complete reinstall of Outlook and BCM is the only way
out. The age old Microsoft solution. Oh well, a fresh reinstall usually
improves performance and can have a real benefit, if one doesn't value their
time a lot.

Luther, thank you very much for the help and following through with this!

I had a similar issue. It turns out that BCM had not completed loading the
datasets from SQL Server. Look at your status in the lower left corner of
outlook. Are you working with a remote sql server? is your server running
automatically?, etc.

Nothing in status that indicates a problem.

My sql server is on the same computer as Outlook & BCM. BCM works fine other
than this issue. I'm going to uninstall Outlook and BCM and install again.

I went to Tools / Trust Center / Add-ins and at the bottom Manage COM
Add-ins and unchecked all but the critical ones. I haven't figured out
which unchecked add-ins were the problem but BCM and Outlook 2007 work fine
now.

Hope this helps others.

Jim,
how do you know which ones are critical and which ones are not - please?
