BCM Error Message - Cannot access the database.

In the last three days when I've tried to use Outlook I get this error message:

Business Contact Manager for Outlook database cannot be loaded.
This action cannot be completed because Business Contact Manager cannot
access the database. The database is currently stopped.

Do you want to change the database configuration?

I haven't changed anything as far as I know...what do I do?

Thanks!

Hi

Can you go to services.msc and check if the MICROSOFTSMLBIZ and see if the
service is set to start

Thanks for the update. Go to start > control panel > add /remove program
uninstall Business Contact Manager and MSDE if present

Also go to C:\Program files \MSSQL and rename the folder to MSSQLOLD

Note: Do note rename this folder if you have programs like ACT or Small
Business Accounting

Once down reinstall BCM if you don’t have the source or the disk download
and install it from the following location

Raul:

I am having this same problem after an Upgrade to Vista using OL 2007 with
BCM. Unfortunately, the "run" command doesn't exist in Vista any more; as
far as I can tell, I can only run a program as an administartor, which I have
done with OL and still get this error. Can you give me ideas for fixing
this in Visat? Thanks!

Hi David,

You can type "services.msc" in the "Start Search" text box on clicking Start
on your Vista machine.
Once the services window opens, look for "SQL Server (MSSMLBIZ)". If the
status is stopped, you can right click on it to start it.

thanks.

The run command is still available for the Start Menu, but it's off by
default. You can enable it on the Start Menu properties.

I also have the same problem.

In following your directions, when I get to add/remove programs I don't see
Business Contact Mngr by itself. I have Microsoft Office Professional
Edition 2003, and I have Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 with Business Contact
Manager update.

Which should I delete if any?

Lastly, I do not have a folder in program files named MSSQL, but do have one
named MSSQLOLD

What else should I do to get this working?

Thank you

By the way, I went to services.msc and MICROSOFTSMLBIZ is disabled.

Should I set it to automatic or manual or leave disabled?

If you want to use BCM v1 or v2 (Outlook 2003) then the
MICROSOFTSMLBIZ sqlserver must be running, so switch it to automatic
start.
