BCM for Outlook 2007 Beta 2: Cannot Reinstall

RDU

N.B. This message was cross-posted in the BCM group for complete coverage.

I developed instability with Windows XP Pro that required a no-reformat
reinstall operation.

Upon recovery I found that BCM would no longer recognize my databases. I
then took the following steps:

1. Uninstalled BCM for Outlook 2007 Beta 2 from Add/Remove Programs
2. Rebooted
3. Began reinstallation from .exe BCM file
4. Reinstallation resulted in SQL Server 2005 being reinstalled but BCM did
not reinstall with the only 'error' message indicating that BCM failed to
install
5. Rebooted into Safe Mode & deleted all temporary files, then Shutdown
6. Again attempted reinstall with the same message indicating that the
installation of BCM failed

Any ideas short of uninstalling Office 2007 Beta 2 & starting from scratch?

Thanks.

Well, I am afraid my response will not be of much help, but let me provide it
anyway. I did finally get BCM to work, but this is where I may not be much
help, because I do not know exactly what I did to get it working.

I had been repair OUT2007 and reinstalling BCM off-and-on for a couple of
weeks. But I could never get it to work. Ok, then I just uninstalled BCM and
couple of days later started playing with Office Live.....which to use some
of the applications you need data from BCM. Well, at least if you do not want
to hand enter each biz contact again.

So, I did another repair on OUT2007, why not right, and installed BCM this
time creating a new database – yes, I tried that several times too in the
past and did not work. But this time for some reason it did work and I am now
using OUT2007 w/ BCM and Office Live.

Like I said, not sure what happened but it did start working again. Just
hope it dies not decides to stop again after I load all of my company data. ïŠ
I get this feeling that BCM is not strategic to MSFT and hope someone can
tell me otherwise. I like it and it would serve nicely as the center piece to
several of the products (I just started using

Well actually you may have provided a tip that I had completely forgotten
about and that was doing a repair of Outlook. I'll let you know how it goes.

Kevin--

I actually uninstalled & reinstalled Office 2007 & B2TR and still could not
install BCM.

You mentioned below "repair OUT2007." I thought I knew what you were
referring to but apparently not. How did you "repair" Outlook 2007.

Thanks.
