BCM Offline Database

Jeanne G.

In Office 2007, BCM, we have a "shared" database, thru a network - NOT
exchange server.

When the primary (host) computer is online and the remote computer is online
the database synchronizes nicely. When the host computer is not online,
SOMETIMES, the remote computer can access the offline databse and sometimes
it can't. ?????

Lately it just can't. There are two seperate "shared" databases.

When neither host computer is online - the the "create or change" database
is greyed out. She has access to the one offline database which was last
open, but can't change to the other offline database.

When one host is online and she is synchronized with that computer, but the
second host computer is offline, it doesn't allow her to change to the second
computer's offline database. She gets the "create ro change" database
ability, but it can't "find" the other (offline) database.

Any info GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

Although BCM supports changing database, changing shared databases AND
switching offline databases while offline is probably unsupported--
that would explain why the "create or change" is grayed out. I haven't
seen any documentation on the scenario you're describing. You could ask
Microsoft directly about this to find out more.

You might consider using two different Outlook Mail profiles, one for
each shared/offline database pair.

Luther,

Thank you for your timely response. I was waiting for email notice which
never came, maybe I forgot to request it.

How do I contact Microsoft directly?

Jeanne
