beep in VBA

Jay

The VBA beep command doesn't result in my PC beeping. Where does the beep normally come from - the
speaker in the PC itself (ie the one that beeps after the BIOS has successfully loaded) or from the
speakers that plug into the sound card? I don't have any speakers plugged into my sound card, so if
that's where the beep comes from, then that explains it.

Hi Jay,

I wonder, whether this can help you,
but I got a variety of machines, some with no sound card at all
and only the built in speaker,
some with soundcard and external speakers.

It seems, beep uses whatever device there is.
The soundcard and the external speakers, if present,
otherwise the built in speaker.

Thanks for the information Helmut,

The built-in speaker definitely works, and beeps when I press Caps Lock (I have toggle keys set in
Windows XP which beeps if I press Caps Lock - very handy). So, for some reason, beep in VBA isn't
working. The PC has Windows XP and Office 2000 professional.

An off-chance possibility: Do you have a macro anywhere called "Beep"?

Thanks for your reply Klaus. No I don't have such a macro, just an unusual PC I guess.

Best wishes,

Jay
