behavior of connected lines with shapes

HI:
I want to compose a special connector based on 'side to side fixed 1'. The
special connector is to have a diamond at each end of the connection line. I
used the visio basic shape box, rotated it 90 degrees, and placed one on each
end of the side to side connector. When I group, join, or create a union of
the shapes, the behavior changes. Is there a way for the composit figure
(line with the diamonds at the end) to inheret the line behavior of the 'side
to side fixed 1'??? Is there a better way to use the side to side fixed
connection, andhave it have different end shapes?
Thanks
John

I want to keep the same behavior as the MS supplied 'side to side fixed 1'
connector...basically as a rubberbanding connector, with the end shapes
staying a fixed size. So, to try and be a little more clear.....I want to
have a line (1-D) with diamond endpoint objects. When I use it to connect
two objects on my drawing, the diamond endpoint should stay the same size,
but the line itself should behave (i.e. auto adjust the path) like the
default connection line.

I want my custom designed connector to inherit the behavior of the 'side to
side fixed 1' line.....Does that make things clearer?
Thanks for your interest...

Now, i see.
The method to add any geometry to the connector
is to open shape sheet and edit, add geometry
sections for the two diamonds, and write some
formula in the cells.
But, if you like the more simple way,
select a connector and select menu "format",
"line", and change the startpoint and endpoint
symbols, the number of diamond-like simbol is 22.

Hi: Thanks for the info....I was aware of the 'simple' way, the only thing is
that the diamond (which is #22) is not filled. For my application, is has to
be a solid black fill. Is there some easy way to do this? Thanks

An alternative may be in UML,connector 'Composite'.
Diamond is on one side only, but if you put formula
"USE("Composite")" in the EndArrow cell of "Line
Format" section of the connector's shape sheet.
The diamonds usually stand vertical, it is a bit
hard to lay horizontal.
