Best Approach for usability

Hey Everyone,

First, thanks for the prompt answer the other day. My question today
involves what SharePoint Services 2007 can do that SharePoint 3.0
cant. My boss has asked me to summarize why we should go to an
upgraded versino of sharepoint. What does this have to do with
InfoPath?

Well, what I'm interested in knowing, is can I deploy a form designed
in InfoPath, that can be used in a web browser, that is accessible to
persons outside of my network.

Example, customer is requesting services from us. I would put a form
on our webpage, collect information on the customer, and when they
mash the enter button, the information they put in, is put into a
database that the BE is located on our SharePoint site. I would also
like to code it, so it will forward a task assignment to an
appropriate staff member. He/She accepts the task, and goes to the
same database, works with or reviews the customer entered information,
and then takes whateve action is necessary. Is it possible (or
perhaps, more appropriately safe) to have outside users, inputting
data into my database, by browser enabled infopath forms?

I'm confident that 3.0 is not the way to go. But my boss wants to know
that MOSS 2007 will be able to do this.. I hope this makes some
sense, if not let me know..
