Best Practice for Textn or Numbern Fields

Hi,

I am now using 1 textn and 1 numbern field to keep tasks synchronised to an
external file. Are there any conventions or guidelines about the use of
Textn or Numbern fields to minimise impact on user or other application data?

For example, should I check for existing text data and tag it? or in the
case of using a number field for sorting, should I save and restore existing
data?

Any thoughts appreciated..

Hi,

The only guideline I can think of is that there should be one, such that
when files are consolidated or exchanged, one user doesn't destroy an other
user's data.
But no, customized fields do not influence the scheduling engine.
