Best strategy for printing out excel workbooks

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I often have workbooks that have 10 columns or more.
I like the text to look large on printouts. So sometimes I select the whole workbook, enlarge the font and everything goes haywire.
I have to adjust the columns, and then more issues of text wrap/ not wrapping, spilling of the page develop.
Any tips on all this? thanks.
PS and if I hide some columns it seems the text printed out stays small, not sure of the effect of hiding columns in this equation.

You're causing your own problems. It's impossible to resize cell content
without having to resize the cells & only so much content will fit within
the margins specified on any given size sheet of paper.

If it's necessary to print at a different 'size' than what the sheet
formatting & layout calls for use the File> Page Setup - Page - Scaling
feature to print at more or less than 100% of actual size. You can also make
further adjustments in Page Break Preview. Neither of these features involve
making any changes to the sheet formatting or layout... It's like printing
enlargements of photographs I the 'good old days'.

Information on all of this is available in Excel Help.

Bob, thanks,
page scaling does not help becuase as a rule I always set that to fit to 1 page wide and leave the tall field blank.
that way I always see the full document on the page.

Can stand having a workbook spreak out over two pages.

Page break preview, what is that? where do I access it? will it help?

Page Break View was a feature in earlier versions of Excel (any version
earlier than 2008 had it, if I remember correctly). It has been replaced
by Page Layout View, which essentially does the same thing.

Well, you can't have it both ways ‹ at least not if you intend for it to be
readable. In fact, I can't figure out what you want... And no offense, but
I'm not certain you do either. What point is served by increasing the size
of the sheet's content to make it print larger then scaling it down to 1
page wide when you print? I doubt adjusting page breaks will help but;

If still using Office 2004? See Excel Help: Change the worksheet view

If using 2008 see Excel Help: Adjust page breaks before printing, and update
the info in your posts.
