Best way to assign more resources to a task that already has work?

I have a task that requires 1000 hours of work. I have assigned 7 people
working 100% (full-time) to the task to finish it by the deadline. Actual
work done the first week has lagged, so I will need to assign more people to
the task to finish by the deadline. What is the best way to assign more
resources to a task that already has work done on it? I tried adding more
resources to the task, but that added the additional resources from the start
date of the task, which isn’t accurate. What is the best way to set up tasks
so I can easily add more resources later if needed? Thank you.

Hello rgille,

You can assign resources and delay their assignment start buy using
the Task Form formatted with Resource Schedule. From a Gantt Chart
view, choose Window > Split in the menu to show the Task form. Once
the task form is visible in the lower pane, right click in the lower
pane and select Resource Schedule.

You can also manually modify the work schedule for assignments using
the Task Usage view.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

If you are tracking progress, you could use Tools/Tracking/Update
Project/Reschedule uncompleted work to start after <today's date> and
then when you add the new resource your problem shouldn't occur.
