Best way to break up scheduled work when a new, higher priorityproject comes along

Say one of your resources is scheduled to work 2 weeks (80 hours full
time) on a project then the customer throws you curve after the
programmer has worked 24 hours on it.

What is the best technique for changing horses in mid-stream them
coming back to the original project when the emergency has been taken
care of?

Hi Andy,

this is a functionality in MS Project. Open the project schedule where your
resource is allocated to. Select the task that you wish to split. Then go to
Edit > split Task and mouse over the the Gantt Chart line. The Pop up window
that appeared will display the start date of the split. Once you reached the
start date click on your mouse putton and drag the Gantt chart Line to the
Finish date of the Split. You have now splitt the task.
BTW: you can also achieve this in the task or resource usage view by putting
in a 0 on the day you dont want to resource to work.
Hope this helps
