best way to create ranking catagories: highest to lowest within spreadsheet

Hello,
What is the best way to create ranking catagories of names applying for
a job position within a spreadsheet. Can they be color coded so that
you can pull the highest ranking after listing a large group of names
within a spreadsheet. For instance can all the reds, highest ranking,
be brought to the top of the spreadsheet within a large list of names
with differing qualifications for the job, followed by blues (medium
ranking). Or is there a better way of producing a ranking system.

I suggest using another column to hold the rank or score. Then use Data |
Sort to rearrange the list. If you need color, you could use conditional
formatting based on the rank or score. Instead, if you apply row color
manually without using a rank or score column, I think you need VBA to do
the sorting.
