Best way to do a clean reinstall of Word 2004?

Hi, everybody. I'm having a good deal of trouble with Word 2004 freezing on my Intel iMac whenever I try to open a saved file or edit my Word preferences. I have the latest updated version of Word 2004 and I'm running Leopard OS 10.5.2. I've tried everything -- trashing preferences, repairing permissions, replacing the Normal template, adding a new User profile -- nothing helps. I want to do a clean install of Office 2004 but I don't know what hidden files I might need to trash in order to do a truly clean install. Can someone help me with a list of exactly what to get rid of, and where to find it? This way I can reinstall from my CD, run the updates, and get my life back to normal!

Many, many thanks in advance for your time and your help -- Tom

Hi Tom -

From what you describe a fresh install may be in order, but if you haven't
already done so here are a few things to try first:

Run Disk Utility - Verify Disk to make sure all is well there. If not, start
up from the OS X install disc & fix the problems with Repair Disk. If all is
OK run Repair Disk Permissions & restart the Mac. You also make no mention
of having done anything about possible font issues.

If you still get nowhere & decide to reinstall, use the Remove Office
utility you'll find in the Tools menu of the Office install disc - take a
look at the info on the following page before you start:

http://word.mvps.org/Mac/TroubleshootingIndex.html

and follow the appropriate links... there may be a few things you missed:)
There's also one there for Remove/Reinstall if you need it.
