Best way to edit photos embedded in doc?

Ed

I edit reports written by others, including some who have no clue about the
size (physical and file) of their embedded photos! As these are already
inserted, if I Copy and Paste into a photo editing program, I generally get
Word's resolution of either 72 or 96 dpi, and the colors are often very
bad - not at all what it shows on the screen.

What methods would the professionals here use to remove an embedded photo,
adjust size, color, and resolution, and then save as a new file to reinsert?

Thank you.

Hi Ed-

I'm afraid the adage "You can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear" may have
been written specifically to address this question... at least if the
pictures were inserted using Insert>Picture>From File or Copy & Paste.

Quite unlikely based on your context, but if the images are inserted using
Insert>Object>Create From File you could simply double-click them to open
them in MS Photo Editor and Save As in the appropriate format.
