Best Way to Send MPP File From Server?

What is the "approved" method of sending an .mpp file residing on the server
to someone outside of the organization? I.e. I want to e-mail an enterprise
project plan to a partner. I tried just opening it and doing a send via
e-mail (using Lotus) which crashed MPP and then left the project in a permanent
checked out mode.

Potential options (that I can identify):

1) Open file, send via e-mail
2) Check file out to work online, then send via e-mail
3) Export to another file, then send
4) Open file, do a local Save As, then send that copy

As long as the person at the other end is not going to change the project or
update it, you can click File - Save As - Save as File and send the .mpp to
them. Hope this helps.
