BETA Outlook 2007 - "Cannot validate server certificate" error w I

N

Noel Hastings

My previous Outlook 2003 never had difficulty with my University's IMAP
server, but 2007 brings up a warning the first time it tries to connect to
the server every time, no matter what. It states that it cannot "validate the
server certificate" and asks if I wish to continue anyway. I always do and
everything works fine after that. I looked at some of the details of the
server certificate and checked with our IT people and it is fine. The details
even state "this certificate is ok". Everything on it matches what it should
match, so is Outlook 2007 incapable of correctly validating it? Is there some
info I need to post here to help people figure this out? -Noel

When is the expiration date of the certificate and who is the signer of
it?

Does not expire until 7/28/2007 and it is signed by Thawte Premium Server CA

You seem to be unlucky...
It's a clean XP install...Can you go on Windows Update and check the
optional update section. If you haven't installed any optional updates,
then you should find a Root Certificate Update (or called something like
that) on there. Install it please.
If you already have that one, what is the exact error message.
Specifically, what does the second paragraph of the error dialog say?
