BETA Outlook 2007 - Crashing on connection to Exchange

R

Richard

I am trying to use outlook 2007 b2 on a tablet pc. It is connecting to
exchange in cache mode. It creates the .ost file and works fine the first
time, brings down all the mail and will allow me to send mail. Then if I exit
outlook and restart. I get the "Outlook has encountered a problem and has to
close" dialog. If I delete the .ost file, then it works again. But only for
that one time.

Exchange Server 2003 SP2, Client OS is both xp xp2 and vista b2.

Ideas? Is there a place to report this to MS?

If you want to provide feedback on the public preview version of Office 2007 Beta 2, get the Send a Smile tool from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A2E1F4E2-BC0F-4403-B09F-7A677D55F274. This tool will transmit your comments and a screenshot back to Microsoft. For more information, see http://spaces.msn.com/turtleflock-ol2007/blog/cns!C1013F1F9A99E3D8!135.entry

You might want to see if you can get a different profile to work without Cached Exchange mode.

Do you have any addins installed, or are you scanning email at the desktop?

Disabled all your add-ins already?
Tried it with a clean profile?
Does it work in Outlook safe mode?

For the public BETA this is the place to be.

Thanks for the link.

Thanks,

I have not added any add-ins. But to be sure. How do I check?

No e-mail scanning, turned off mcafee email scan and on Vista I don't have
any virus checker installed.

Thanks

I have deleted and recreated the profile several times.

Have not added any add-ins. How would I check?

I will give safe mode a try!

Thanks,

That was it. I did have a add-in that was causing the problem.

Thanks!
