Problem: If I don't open Outlook in safe mode, it pegs the CPU cycles at 50%
and locks up.
MS Office Outlook 2003 (11.8010.6558) SP2
Turns out that I had opened two archived data files at some time, and had
since removed them from the machine. Outlook would cycle FOREVER . . . I'd
left it up all weekend once, and it stayed locked up and the process
OUTLOOK.EXE took 50% CPU cycles. Kept starting outlook in safe mode, and it
was fine. I finally noticed the folders in Outlook, and did the
<right-click> close on them. Gee, suddenly Outlook starts just fine. What I
don't get is why there was no, nada, zilch, nothing for an error message. I
sent hundreds of "you closed a program. please report to microsoft."
Come on, Microsoft, what's it take for an error box to say "Data file not
found, do you want to continue to try to open it?"
