Better Excel commenting

Does Excel have functionality for giving overviews of workbooks? I deal with
a lot of v. large financial sheets, where it's extremely difficult to keep
track of what is being calculated in various parts of each sheet.
A document "map" view, which would show the developer a zoomed out view of
the sheet with high level comments attached to to large blocks of cells, and
possibly some overall general comments on the workbook and sheet as a whole
would, in my opinion, be a useful feature.

I just use another worksheet called Notes.
