better looking 3D buttons for Navigation link bar

I like the functionality of 'bar linked to navigation structure', but the
designs (in themes) are a bit flat.
The 3D looking designs in 'Interactive buttons' ( eg "embossed ractangle 2")
are much better for my application, but I loose all the automatic
functionality (eg the appropriate button automatically displayed as
'pressed' when that page is viewed.

How do I get the best of both - eg a 3D looking button in a 'link bar'.

Modify the theme, by replace the images in the theme with your custom 3D images
