Better way to draw a line

In Word 2000 it was easy to draw a line anywhere in the document - now in
Word 2003 I have the problem of there being a "box" around the line I am
trying draw which limits me in how long I want the line. Right now my work
around is to copy and paste a line from an old document.

In Word, click on Tools | Options | General tab | uncheck the
"Automatically create drawing canvas" box | OK.
