BI Portal installed but no BI displayed on screen

Hi,

I'm keen to deploy BI Portal amongst my users and have
been given some time to investigate further by my boss.
However, I just can't seem to get it working and have
wasted a day de-installing re-insatlling to no avail.

- installed BI Portal v 2.1.7
- I can launch the home page via http://servername/bip
- I can display the 4 quadrants (tree of views, add ins,
pivot table, chart)
- each quadrant is empty (can only see the OWC logo in
pale grey, no tables / charts etc)
- the Folder list is empty within Tree of Views
- I can create a connection to an existing table in the
BIP Database
- If I subsequently try and update the same connection to
the BIP database I get the (error?) message:
There no connected views to the selected datasource

I am stuck!
