Big timeouts when browsing attached tables in Microsoft Access 200

I'm using attached tables from a Sybase 12.5 server.

When i open the table in Tableview and i get on a Date field the hourglass
appears and the application stop responding.

Microsoft Access is making some kind of lookup in the date field, can we
stop this?
