Billable and Non-billable time

B

Bentley-PSO

I saw in a demo that a resource can log time to a billable or non-billable
task via the Project Server timesheet. How is this accomplished? Outline
codes? How does it show up on the time sheet? Please explain.

Thanks

Perhaps you can tell us where you saw this demo since there is no default
method within Project Server to do what you describe. Let us know.

Hi Bentley,

Could it be that you have seen a Project Server 2007 presentation? Project
Server 2007 allows you to log billable and non billable time, but this
release will not come out for another couple of month ( between Nov 2006 and
Jan 2007 ).

You are not able to track billable and non billable time within the current
release which is Project Server 2003
Hope this helps

You can track time against non-billable and bilable tasks but it leverages
basic MS Project functionality. Resources will have to have a zero rate in
Standard Rate "B". All billable tasks use the default Standard Rate "A" and
any non-billable tasks use Table "B". A PM has to set this up. From a
timesheet perspective, one would have to use task naming conventions for
resources to be able to determine billable versus non-billable tasks. Not
elegant perhaps but it works.
