Bizarre Page 1 of Numpages result

I'm using {Page} of {Numpages} in a 10 page document and that works
fine. I get:

Page 1 of 10
Page 2 of 10 etc

Then I change the starting page number to say 34 and I get:

Page 34 of 10
Page 35 of 10 etc

Nothing I have tried will force the numpages field to display the
correct sequence which should be:

Page 34 of 43
Page 35 of 43 etc

I've tried sectionpages but that still gives the same results.

I really need a workaround for this as I've delivered it to my client
and now just realised it has this problem with the page renumbering
feature and it's only a matter of days when they are going to discover
this problem too.

Hope some bright spark can work out what's wrong....
