Black boxes instead of images in powerpoint presentations

When I use documents and presentations with images (jpg, png, gif
mainly) within, created in Office 2003 for Windows (spanish), in my
Mac with Office 2004 (english) , sometimes the images appear as black
boxes.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Carlos:

Yeah. They do. And we don't have a reliable method for fixing them :)

It's a "layering" issue.

Make sure the graphics are in RGB format. Other than that, I am afraid you
will have to get hold of the original graphic and re-insert it on the Mac.

If you insert on the Mac, it should be right on the PC.

It's a bug...

Sorry

Thanks John for your answer. I was doing the "re-insert thing", but in
some cases it didn´t work, maybe because they weren´t in RGB.

Hello,
how do you insert the pictures? Insert>picture>from file> in that
dialog in office 2003 the button in the right bottom called Open has a
small arrow, you can see other options there one of them is link to
file, you haven't linked your pictures did you?

Do you have any tiff images there?

And a hint - if you share you ppt presentation you may try the option
File>Package for CD

Make sure you have OS X and QuickTime and Word 2004 AND Word 2003 right
up-to-date with the latest updates from their various manufacturers :)

There have been lotsa patches to this mechanism to try to overcome the
problems. On the PC, you need the very latest QuickTime filter, and on the
Mac, the very latest version of QuickTime...

It still won't work ALL the time, but it will get better :)

Cheers

Hello,

Yes, in some presentations I have tiff images. Always use the Insert
picture option, not the link one. All the documents were created in
Office XP and 2003 for Windows. I have four weeks using a MacBook with
Office 2004 so I´ll have a lot of new things to learn !!.

Hello Carlos,

I don't cover graphics management in the following, but for familiarisation
with many features of Word 2004 you might find them useful: some notes on
the way I use Word for the Mac, titled "Bend Word to Your Will", which are
available as a free download from the Word MVPs' website
(http://word.mvps.org/Mac/Bend/BendWordToYourWill.html).
